Advisement: Thursday, April 1st will be a day set aside for BET faculty to advise students in preparation for classes for Summer 2010. There will be no BIOM classes that day, though other classes may still meet. Sign up for an appointment at the BET offices.
Guest Speaker: Pat Lynch from Global Imaging in Charlotte, NC will be coming to TSTC on Wednesday, April 14th to make several presentations for the benefit of BET/MIT students. More details to follow as we firm them up.
Club Shirt Orders: Club polo shirts are in! The shirts are Royal Blue, short sleeve, 100% cotton, with the TSTC logo on the left chest and the Biomed symbol on the left sleeve. There are extra shirts available; cost is $22.58 per shirt; add $2.00 for size 2XL, $4.00 for 3XL, and $6.00 for 4XL. Contact Paul Headen to pick up yours.
Temple VA tour: The tour on Thursday, February 25th went very well; the Dept Supervisor, Gary Lucht, is very supportive of our club and Biomed students at TSTC in general. There are additional tours possible this semester; contact Paul Heineman to get on the list or to let him know if a different day of the week would fit your schedule better.
Mentorship Program: The BET/MIT Club is starting a program to provide informal tutoring help to BET and MIT students. Look under the Member Resources tab to find someone who can help you. Anyone interested in becoming a tutor is asked to contact one of the club offficers.
Fundraiser: Plans are in the works for a fundraiser to benefit the victims of the Haiti earthquake. We will probably hold a cookout some time after Spring Break; stay tuned for more information.
North Texas Biomedical Association: The next meeting has been posted and will be Monday, April 12th, 2010 at Children’s Hospital of Dallas. The school will provide a van for those who would like to carpool. Seeting is limited; come to the meeting April 7th to get put on the list. Scholarship: U.S. Med Equip Inc. Congratulations to Carlos Davis, the first recipient of the Annual U.S. Med Equip Inc. scholarship in the amount of $500.00. There will be another one coming soon for the next school year. Make sure and get your applications in early. We will be posting the new application here so check back often.
